Here's a summary of our actions and ideas:

Prevention of chemical pollution
- Use of only steam for room cleaning avoiding chemicals
- Use of neem oil for pest control  to avoid pesticides
- Swimming pool with salty water and sterilization by electrolysis avoiding addition of chemicals.
- Use of natural bio degradable products for the cleaning of linen and china - bio wash - http://www.veraloe.com.br/in/
- Correct allocation of potentially polluting waste: lamps, batteries, electronics
- Sewing treatment with natural filters, special plants and proper bacteria for consumption of left solids
- Own production of unavoidable cleaning products - detergents - bio degradable (see recipes in http://www.ipemabrasil.org.br/receita.htm)

Chemical  is one of the most destructive and underestimated form of pollution. Either by their lasting - chemicals in general remain decades in the environment - and for being "invisible" - you can not always smell or notice but it will stay in the land, goods, in your house - and mainly by widespread use in modern life: it is in food, in cleaning products, in personal care - detergents, shampoos, soaps - in household insecticides, it takes years to dissipate and will accumulate on earth, the seas, houmes. Use steam cleaning, consume organic products, avoid insecticides, prefer rechargeable batteries, discard only in proper sites (also for lamps and electronic equipment )...

Conservation of energy
- Use of electronic lamps indoor
- Filter and equipotential balance of power
- Use of LED lighting in the gardens and other external areas - very low power consumption
- Sensors for lighting on external areas
- Solar water-heating or natural gas for cloudy days
- Electrical appliances class "A" certified - as split air conditioning and refrigerator.

Such measures, although a high initial cost, generated immediate environmental gains but have also cut down by more than 50% in our whole energy consumption and today it brings cost savings, especially in periods of low profitability.

Rational use of water
- Recicle of 100% wasted water, grey and black, cleaned by various natural filterings, used for underground hydration of our gardens
- Use of rainwater, collected and stored in 3 tanks used to superficial sprinkling in the gardens
- Reducing to the minimum but comfortable flow in showers, flushing and faucets
- The use of steam cleaning - much more efficient and avoids the chemicals and waste of water needed to use them

Water is the most precious and most wasted natural resource. There is very little proper water available for our use on the planet, it is extremely expensive to prepare it for human consumption in cities and it is mostly wasted as a vehicle for spreading more pollution, by contaminating it with sewage, soaps and cleaning chemicals.

Recycling
- Use of green tiles in the building - made with the recycling of milk and toothpaste boxes - also reduced inroom temperature
- Use of water pipes and faucets made of recycled PET
- Reuse and recycle the leftovers of construction
- Separation of garbage, with program to reduce it
- Social destination of recyclable waste
- Composting of organic waste used for garden fertilization

Recycling is the most accessible way to contribute to sustainability, either reusing what would be discarded, or donating it to somebody who can reuse what we can not - garbage cooperatives, for example - and buying recycled products whenever possible.

Preservation of natural resources
- Intensive use of electronic processes to avoid printing
- Consumption of paper and printing only on recycled paper
- Reduction program for the washing of towels with the help of guests and as part of incentives for  participation of customers to improve the quality of services and stimulate their commitment to environmental and socio-cultural issues.
- Information on all our efforts and offer of publications related to good environmental practices in order to stimulate knowledge and commitment to simple, easy and affordable sustainable measures.


Nature
- Preservation of all native trees in our garden.
- Cultivation of proper plants for butterflies caterpillars.
- Planting of flowering - Lantanas etc - for the butterflies
- Planting of fruit for the birds and cuícas (native marsupials which feed mainly on fruit and spread the seeds)
- Maintenance of old trunks for carpenter bees - they need them for habitat and they pollinate flowers as big as those of passion fruits.

Without caterpillars there would not be butterflies,  succulent plants attract the caterpillars that will not attack  the other plants. The butterflies pollinate the plants, such as bees and carpenter bees, with that we have more flowers and fruits that attract birds and more cuícas which spread more seeds ... The nature can generate a lot of life with just a few care and the result here is the shade of trees, freshness, peace and harmony, the colorful and birds that make our gorgeous mornings .......
